OPC Community Garden For Food Pantry

Supported By:  Missions Team Steering Committee
Its Mission:
To assist The Kendall County Food Pantry in providing fresh vegetables to low income people in Kendall County.
Activities:
For the summer of 2011, OPC adopted a plot at the Oswego Community Garden at 810 Preston Lane, Oswego, IL (behind the Oswego Park District's South Point facility). We were able to make several deliveries of tomatoes, squash, zucchini, onions, and cucumbers even with a late start and abundance of rain. Many thanks to the following volunteers who assisted with planting, weeding, watering, and transporting vegetables: Craig and Meghan Shook, Joanne Grzetic and family, Michael and Pam D’Argo and family, Kent Fleming, Evan and Jenna Hague, Ted Mathewson, and the OPC Confirmation Class.
Individual Ministry Opportunities
:  Help in planting, watering, weeding, and harvesting of vegetables. We may also need help in transporting harvested vegetables to The Kendall County Food Pantry.
Meetings:  Meeting(s) to identify tasks to be done and allow volunteers to specify their preferences and sign up for tasks (e.g. for watering on certain dates). Then we coordinate by phone and email.
